Pillars of Eternity 2 Video-Based Walkthrough by David Milward |
East Island of Wakara Reef
Goldbell
I attack several ships as I gradually make my way northeast of Neketaka Island, including Vailian Expert Captains and a Royal Deadfire Expert Captain.
At some point, I continue northeast and intercept a Vailian Galleon called the Goldbell. I make a point of boarding it and killing off its crew. A benefit of boarding it is that I get a third Vailian Hullbreaker, which I equip on my portside.
I circle back around after that, and make my way south. I board another Vailian Expert Captain along the way.
I sail south until I board the island at #12.
Tahae
I replace Pallegina with Konstanten for the time being.
I dock at #1 on the map of the east island of Wakara Reef, and then enter Tahae's domain at #3.
The battle itself will be against Tahae, several Brine Imps and another Sea Troll. Alliria begins with Infuse with Vital Essence and recovers the spell with Blood Sacrifice. But now she goes on a cycle of Fireball, then Blood Sacrifice to recover the 3rd tier spell, rinse and repeat. The process wipes out the Brine Imps in three Fireballs, and I thereafter simply gang up on the Trolls one at a time.
Tahae leaves behind two items. One is an amulet called the Tears of Saint Makawo. I'll sell it as it doesn't fit into any of my plans.
The other is a Ring of Overseeing. Konstanten wears it for the rest of the game. Its bonus to area-of-effect will benefit his Carnage, and his Offensive Invocations.
*Evil* Tahae
The battle on the evil side sees Ydwin make frequent use of Puppet Master on the other Sea Troll, which makes ganging up on Tahae a good deal easier.
Tekehu gets the Ring of Overseeing and wears it for the rest of the game. It will expand the area-of-effect of his spells, many of which will not affect his allies.
Teotara Marvel
Now I sail to the Teotara Marvel at #4. It gains some morale and xp for my crew. I chose the Passionate option about how it's a marvel of the Gods.
It is afterwards that I switch Pallegina back in for Konstanten. The religious response would have lost reputation with her had she been in the party at the time.
I return to Neketaka, boarding a Vailian Novice Captain and a Royal Deadfire Expert Captain along the way.
*Evil* Black Oozes in the Well
I spent the first part of the video shopping for crafting ingredients in Serpent's Crown and Periki's Overlook. I switch out Tekehu and Ydwin for Eder and Rekke. Partly because I want to avoid a reputation loss with Tekehu and partly because I plan on a warrior-heavy approach to the next battle.
I head for Queen's Berth, and that's when the evil party has its encounter with the Black Oozes coming out of the well. Zarathos bullies his way to the front of the line, and loses a bit of reputation with Neketaka.
What I mean by the warrior-heavy approach is having credible melee-combatants cut down the Lesser Black Oozes one at a time to start, and reduce the number of attackers as quickly as possible to start the battle. It then becomes a matter of cutting down a Greater Black Ooze, and then killing its split Lesser Black Oozes, rinse and repeat one at a time. I do have to quaff some healing potions, but it gets the job done.
*Evil* Bounty on Tahae
I switch in the companions with the least amount of experience, and travel to the Wild Mare.
Now I remember to give the Ring of Minor Protection that I first found in the Sea Cave to Konstanten. Its defensive bonuses stack with those that will be provided by his cloak.
I speak to Abocco at #4 to cash in on the Bounty on Tahae for 1,600cp and 2,800xp.
I bring my core party back together. I have some funds, so now I upgrade Ydwin's Rod, Watershaper's Focus to Exceptional Quality. I'll wait until I get a distinctive crafting item before upgrading it further to Superb.
I also upgrade Xoti's Lantern all the way up to Legendary. I upgrade Xoti's Sickle to Exceptional. I'm at that point starting to run out of cash, so further upgrading will have to wait.
The Oathbinder's Sanctum is my next destination.
