LANDSMEET
Unrest in the Alienage
I complete the Unrest in the Alienage quest when I deliver the Slaver Documents to Arl Eamon, implicating Teyrn Loghain in the scandal.
Ser Cauthrien Stands Down
Now I travel to the Royal Palace. Alistair will be an obligatory party member. Ser Cauthrien bars my way. I could fight her, but I instead prefer to make two Persuasion (or Intimidation) checks to convince her to stand down.
The Landsmeet
Observing two guidelines should suffice to win the Landsmeet for you. One, do not accuse Loghain of abandoning King Cailan at Ostagar as there's no solid proof. Otherwise you may lose support at the Landsmeet. Second, get as many Nobles on your side as you can beforehand. This can be accomplished by:
The Grey Warden will then have two choices to make. One choice is whether or not to allow Loghain into the Grey Wardens. Allowing Loghain to undergo the Joining will cause Alistair to leave the party no matter what. Executing Loghain means Alistair will stay as a companion.
The other choice involves who will take the throne, Anora, Alistair, both as a married royal couple, or a Human Noble Grey Warden marrying Anora. Note that Anora will refuse to marry anyone who personally kills Loghain, whether it's a Human Noble Grey Warden who kills Loghain himself, or Alistair killing Loghain. I thus have Aldarion kill Loghain personally so that Alistair and Anora will marry.
Reluctant King
We all end up back at Arl Eamon's Estate, where Alistair takes the opportunity to express resentment over becoming King. He is unhardened, so my approval with him takes a hit. But it's nothing a gift or two can't remedy.
Tears of Andraste
Slim Couldry has one last quest available, but not until after the Landsmeet has been resolved. It is to return to Bann Franderel's Estate, with the prize this time being the fabled Tears of Andraste. I immediately head for the Bann of West Hill's Estate on the Denerim map.
It is apparently possible to sneak away cleanly with the Tears without killing anyone, although this requires a character with both maximum Stealth and a very good ability to find traps. I'd just as soon slaughter all the guards. The video has a lot of them, but the tactics are familiar and old hat by now. I then return to Slim for my reward.
Now it's time for the Final Onslaught.
