You must first complete the Dim Prospects
Quest to trigger this Quest. Speak to Hanazui Karu at #3 on the main
floor of the Imperial
Command. She wants you to purchase specific cargo from a captain
named Widla on a ship west of Neketaka, and gives you 1,000cp to make
that purchase. The cargo is then to be transported to Sayuka.
Go out the door at #1 to return to #14 in the Brass Citadel.
Make your way to #44 on the World
Map. The ship will be waiting for you and make towards you once
you are within sight.
Your ships will board each other as you met Widla and her crew,
including her first mate named Perin. She will start off by trying to
double her price to 2,000cp.
You can, at pretty much any point in this conversation, refuse to pay
for the cargo leading to a fight. And that's whether it's her doubled
asking price, or if you had negotiated it down to the original price of
1,000cp but then change your mind. Also, if you decide to refuse the
price, you can also make an Intimidate check of 8 to scare some of the
crew away.
There are multiple ways of getting her to back down to the original
price of 1,000cp. One way is a dialogue option based on having 2 points
of positive reputation with the Principi.
Other possibilities branch out by making an Insight check of 6.
Following up with an Intimidate check of 6 will then convince her to go
back to the original price.
Following up the Insight check of 6 and then asking Widla if she knows
who she's dealing with opens up another branch of possibilities based on
probing Perin on whether he's willing to cross Wilda.
Asking him to betray Wilda but without any skill checks will lead to the
whole crew attacking you.
Making a Bluff check of 6 will lead to Widla locking Perin below deck.
She'll stick to her doubled price, but Perin won't participate if you
refuse and decide to fight her.
It's the Diplomacy check of 8 that convinces Perin to mutiny against
Perin and lock her away. He then agrees to the original 1,000cp. Note
that refusing to pay him, which leads to a fight, earns both Aggressive
and Shady disposition.
The encounter leads to your acquisition of the cargo for purposes of
completing this Quest.
Sail a little more and it turns out that a Kith is in one of the
crates. A Vailian Wizard named Iverra, and she's the actual cargo you've
been bargaining for. The whole Quest is about smuggling her to the Royal
Deadfire Company, whom she feels has the better vision to appreciate her
services instead of the profit-hungry Vailians.
You'll be at #1 in the town of Sayuka.
Iverra will leave you on arrival.
Enter the Fleet Master's Office at #6. Fleet Master Okaya will reward
you with 7,000+ xp and 350cp. You can get another 800cp by indicating
that Wilda tried to extort you.
Completing this Quest also triggers the Overgrowth
Quest.
