Thorel is at #3 on the map of first
floor of Kraken's Eye. He doesn't have any rooms available, at
least not until you can get rid of somebody named Galain for him. Thorel
makes himself clear he'd prefer it done in such a way that Galain is
still alive afterwards.
Galain will be #5. There are numerous
ways to handle the situation.
You could pick a fight with him that earns Aggressive disposition that
involves telling him that Thorel has given you a license to get rough
about things. He will attack you, along with an Aumaua bodyguard and
another reveler. He will surrender, and you could convince him to leave
willingly with very little effort at that point. The alternative is to
kill him and his help.
However, doing so will earn the displeasure of Thorel. He will not give
you any monetary reward, although the party will still get 1,581xp. The
only room in the Kraken's Rest that will become available to you is the
Bloody Mess (-1 Diplomacy, +10% Damage).
Any way that involves getting Galian to leave willingly without
killing him earns an extra 315xp. One way is to use the Aggressive
option that manifests right away.
Selecting the "polite" dialogue option opens up three more
possibilities:
Making a Diplomacy check of 2
Giving him 100cp
Asking him to pay back what he owes, and then telling him to find
work at the docks
Threatening to bring the guards into it opens up numerous other
possibilities for getting him to leave willingly:
Athletics check of 2
Dexterity check of 13
Resolve check of 13
Constitution check of 13, which also earns Stoic disposition
Sleight of Hand check of 2, which also earns Cruel disposition
The Stoic option of pushing him back leads to having the "polite"
tree of options available again.
If you chose any of the options that let Galian walk out alive and
speak to Thorel again, you get an additional 1,581xp and 1,200cp.
A room called the Skipper's Stay becomes available, and offers the
following benefits on Resting for 43cp:
