Trying to take it when the nearby locals can see it will be considered
theft, which means everyone in the tavern going hostile. It's doable,
but not until you have a character who has plenty of ranks in the
Stealth skill who can pilfer it without detection.
If you resolve the Task in a way that he finds successfull (i.e., not
killing anyone), a room called the Skipper's Stay becomes available, and
offers the following benefits on Resting for 43cp:
+2 Diplomacy
+2 Intimidate
+2 Bluff
If you resolved the Task in a more murderous fashion that he dislikes,
the room instead becomes The Bloody Mess, which involves -1 Diplomacy
and +10% Damage taken.
