Degnos will be at #18 on the map of Periki's
Overlook. He would like you to recover his satchel from the nearby
Luminous Bathhouse, and without yourself seeing the contents of the
Satchel. He also indicates that he'll be waiting by the Peddler's Canal
in Queen's Berth in the meantime.
They reveal that Degnos is party to a scheme to sabotage the ship of his
current captain, Avetta, so that he can join the crew of another ship
captained by Talfor. Obtaining these two items expands your options for
completing the quest beyond just returning the Satchel to Degno.
Travelling back to Queen's
Berth within Neketaka
results in a confrontation with Talfor himself, led by several other
Principi pirates. He is naturally interested in what you intend to do
with the satchel.
A fight will result if you punch him in the face, indicate that Avetta
would be interested in learning the contents of the Suspicious
Letter if you had previously read it, or indicate that you're
going to return the Satchel to Degnos but then decline his offer to
escort you to Queen's Berth.
It can be a tough fight, partly because the Pistoleers are Moon Godlike
who can heal themselves. You can take out their Wizard right away by
shooting the Gunpowder barrel next to him. If you win, you'll get
several pieces of armor and weapons of Fine-tier that you can sell.
However, you'll also get decreased reputation with the Principi for each
enemy you kill.
Indicating a willingness to return the Satchel to Degnos, and accepting
the offer of safe passage will bring you to Queen's
Berth without a fight.
**NOTE** The way to avoid this encounter altogether is to use the skiff
in the Undercroft at #8 to
reach Queen's Berth at
#32.
Degnos and Captain Avetta will be waiting at #31. One option is to
give him Degnos' Satchel
even if you previously opened the Satchel. He'll reward you with 37cp
along with a promise to pay you properly at a later time.
Other options become available only if you had opened the Satchel to
obtain Avetta's Seal and
the Suspicious Letter
prior to entering Queen's
Berth. You could give the items to Degnos without conditions, or
you could give them to him on the condition that he not see through his
plan to sabotage Captain Avetta. Either way works to complete the Task.
The other option is to reveal Denos' plans to Captain Avetta. She will
reward you with 1,087cp and a small gain in reputation with the Vailian
Trading Company. Degnos will flee, and you will find his dead body along
with a few coins at #8 in the Old
City Overlook.
