A Vote of No Confidence

Vailian Trading Company Headquarters, Second Floor

  1. This Quest requires completion of the Skipping Ahead Quest. At that point you will have spoken to Director Castol at #4 on the map of the upper floor of the Vailian Trading Company Headquarters. He will advise you to speak to Lueva Alvari. Head down the stairs at #1.
  2. Vailian Trading Company Headquarters, Main Floor

  3. You'll be at #9 on the map of the main floor of the Vailian Trading Company Headquarters. Speak to Lueva Alvari at #4. She has called a meeting of the ruling council of the Company with the intention of having Director Castol dismissed so that she can take his place. Your responses won't have any ingame consequences, as she is fully intent on having the meeting proceed. It is this conversation that starts the Quest.

Go back up the stairs at #9.

  4. A Vote of No ConfidenceThe trial before the council begins. The votes will apparently be stacked against Castol to begin with. You have opportunities at various points during the session to either solidify Alvari's accusations, or counter them to swing votes in Castol's favor.

She'll bring up the lost expedition sent to Poko Kohara. If you had previously completed The Storms of Poko Kohara Quest in a way that favored the Vailian Trading Company, you can point out that the adra vein was restored in order to score points for Castol.

She'll also bring up the vast resources spent on animancy research. You can either deride the experiments (like the peril to yourself during those experiments) to solidify Alvari's case, or point out that the experiments were successful in order to score points for Castol.

She'll also suggest that Castol is too focused on Ukaizo at the expense of known adra resources in the Deadfire. You can remain silent or concur with Alvari. Or you can point out the benefits to the Company, whether it's power through animancy or riches, if the Company can reach Ukaizo so as to score points for Castol. Any of a Bluff check of 6, a Diplomacy check of 6, or a History check of 6 will make the case even stronger for Castol.

If Pallegina is in the party, then you can have her speak in favour of either Alvari or Castol.

The Company shareholders will vote based on whether you let Alvari remain in the lead or whether you were persuasive enough for Castol. Whoever wins between the two will be left in charge of Company operations in the Deadfire, while the other will be exiled.

  5. You'll get 7,500xp and a major gain of positive reputation with the Vailian Trading Company to conclude the Quest. Sabotage at the Brass Citadel is the next Quest.
