The Gullet
*Evil* Dereo's Guards
The evil party arrives at #1. Tekehu seems pretty shaken by what he sees for the first time when entering the Gullet. But Zarathos is pretty callous in reply.
Xoti takes Thunderous Blows on her 12th level. It allows her to gain the Thunderous (+5 Might, +2 Penetration) Inspiration for 4 Wounds. Might is just as much about bonus Healing as it is about bonus Damage for a healer. And it's yet another buff that will be extended endlessly through Salvation of Time.
I go to the entrance to the Narrows at #4. Clicking on it begins a scripted interaction whereby you can end at different destinations depending on what paths you take through the tunnels.
I go right, right and left. I make the Aggressive choice to attack the Guards. The usual methods suffice, helped along by a Scroll of Wilting Wind from Xoti.
*Evil* Dereo the Lean
I go through the door and now speak at length with the leader of the Delver's Row Criminals, Dereo the Lean. He doesn't at all mind my having killed his guards.
He hires me to find a Huana artifact called the Cornett of Waves from a Huana noble named Takano in Serpent's Crown. The conversation triggers The Cornett's Call Quest.
Ulog's Body
The good party postpones a meeting with Dereo for now. They go to the Narrows, and go right once and forward three times.
They come across the corpse of a man who has apparently been beaten to death. Alliria makes a Watcher's only Perception check of 14, which includes Berath's Blessings (+2), Konstanten's Boon (+1) and the White That Wends Background (+1). She finds 100cp and a note that indicates that the man, Ulog, had been smuggling food to the Roparu in the Gullet.
I go back the way I came and then approach the house at #9.
Pitli's Sanctuary
I enter the house and speak with Pitli of the Children of the Dawnstars. She is tending to several Roparu afflicted with Drowner's Lung. I agree to find her Pineseed Oil as a cure. The conversation starts the Harsh Medicine Quest.
I leave and approach the house at #6.
Enoi
I enter the house and speak to Enoi. He asks for aid in installing a system for feeding the Roparu, to which Alliria readily agrees. The conversation starts the Food for Thought Quest.
I speak to him again, and inform him of Ulog's death to earn a minor gain in positive reputation with the Gullet. I leave the house after that.
Alliria now takes Aegis of Loyalty on her 12th level up. Fights against foes that can Dominate or Charm, which include Ciphers and Fampyrs, can be especially problematic. Alliria will at some point acquire a weapon that will completely immunize her against Intellect Afflictions. And that in turn allows her to put a Melee Hit on a party member with an Intellect Affliction, and Aegis of Loyalty will end the Intellect Affliction for that party member.
Overseer Hitenga
I go to #14 and witness Overseer Hitenga ordering his guards to lower a Roparu named Botaro into Old City through a lift. This event triggers the All Aboard Task.
Now I walk away for a bit, and have Mirke go into Stealth Mode. She pickpockets Hitenga for the Marked Suole, which will come in handy later.
Now I speak to Hitenga for a bit. Note that I could betray the Roparu to the Overseer and thus cause their deaths, which would complete the Harsh Medicine Quest but in a rather negative way. But I choose not to.
I ask him about Botara, and then seek permission to go down the lift to Old City. A Survival check of 5, a History check of 3, or 200cp will suffice to convince him. These alternatives will convince him to leave the lift accessible to you for half a day. If that half a day elapses, you have to find a different and much more difficult way out of Old City.
Alliria gets permission very easily, just for having 3 points of positive reputation with the Huana. And that also means the Overseer will leave the lift down for as long I need. I use it to enter the Old City Overlook.
Botaro's Soul
I start off at #1 on the map of the Old City Overlook. I head over to #2, and defeat a large group of Guls and Pestilent Rotghasts.
Alliria speaks to the spirit of Botaro at the same place. She learns that he had been working for a crime lord named Dereo, that he's hidden money somewhere, and that he was hoping to secure passage on a ship for himself and Biha. I thereafter return to the Gullet through the lift.
Biha
I am back at #15 on the map of the Gullet. I go over to Biha's house at #5 and enter.
I speak at length with Biha. She wants to secure passage on the ship of a Rauataian captain named Seduzo. This conversation progresses the All Aboard Task.
Telling her that Botaro died in Old City results in a minor gain of positive reputation with the Gullet.
I leave and then find the 600cp that I learned about from Botaro's soul at #10.
