Supply and Demand

Ondra's Gift

  1. The entrance to the Salty Mast can be found at #12 Ondra's Gift map.

    2. Salty Mast, Main Floor

    1. Maea can be found at #6 on the Salty Mast. She's convinced that somebody is waging a regular harassment campaign against her customers and employees, and she would like you to put a stop to it. Aggressive, Benevolent, Passionate and Rational replies are possible in response to her request.

    2. LilithA group of Thugs will attack a Nobleman at #13 on the Ondra's Gift map, and then depart northwards. This assault will occur whether or not you had previously accepted the quest.

    3. You will later find the Thugs near the statue at #15. They will attack regardless of anything you can try to say, but it should be an easy fight nonetheless. The loot they leave behind consists of:
      They'll also leave behind the Rusty Bronze Key.

    4. The Rusty Bronze Key is needed to open the door to the Ramshackled House at #30.

    5. LilithOn the other side of the door will be Aefre and her Thugs. There is more than one way to handle the situation.

    6. You could simply kill the whole lot of them. The loot they leave behind includes:
      Return to Maea for 600cp, a slight gain of positive reputation with Defiance Bay, and cheaper fees for the prostitutes.

      An alternative is to make either an Intellect check of 15 or a Resolve check of 16 that earns Aggressive disposition to convince Aefre to willingly stop her harassment of Maea's employees. Maea afterwards will reward you with 600cp, a moderate gain of positive reputation with Defiance Bay, and cheaper fees for the prostitutes.

      An alternative that opens up a different branch of possibilities is to agree with Aefre and seek to convince Maea to lower her prices.

    7. If you side with Aefre, you'll need to speak to Maea again. There are four possibilities:

      • An Intellect check of 17 that increases Diplomatic disposition.
      • A Resolve check of 16 that increases Aggressive disposition.
      • An Intellect check of 18 that increases Rational disposition.
      • Offer to speak to House Doemenel about lowering the price of bitter squash seeds.

      The first three options will all result in immediate rewards of 600cp and cheaper prostitute prices. The Intellect check of 17 results in a moderate increase in reputation with Defiance Bay, the Resolve check in a minor increase, while the Intellect check of 18 does not result in any reputation increase.

      The offer to speak to House Doemenel will take you further afield before the quest is completed.

      8. Brackenbury

    8. The entrance to House Doemenel can be found at #9 on the Brackenbury map.

      9. House Doemenel, Main Floor

    9. You will start off at #1 on the map of the main floor of House Doemenel. The stairs at #3 lead to #11 on the second floor map.

      10. House Doemenel, Upper Floor

    10. Bricanata Doemenel will be at #16 on the map of the second floor. There are two ways to persuade her to lower the price of bitter squash seeds. A Might check of 16 is not one of them, as it will not be persuasive for Bricanata.

      One is if you already have at least two points of positive reputation with House Doemenel, in which case you can call in a favor then and there and bring the good news to Maea.

      The other route is to complete the Hard Feelings task for her.

    11. If you do convince Bricanta to lower her prices on bitter squash seeds only for Maea, then report back to Maea. Your reward will be the usual 600cp, discounts on prostitutes, but now both the Common Room and the Broad Beam being available for free, and a major gain of positive reputation with Defiance Bay.
