This Quest starts after completing the Quest called A Rising Star Quest. Speak to Bekarna, who will be at #10 in the Temple of Revelation. She wants you to find a sample of starmetal for her.
Being able to start this Quest tends to mean having complete both the Annotated History and Under Observation Quests. That means the door at #13 will now stay open.
Go down the stairs at #14, which brings you to The Scriptorium at #9.
Click on the Trephine at #3. You'll now be able to use the memory you obtained from the Memory Hoarder during the Under Observation Quest. You will also have to sacrifice your knowledge of how to use the Trephine, which means you can only use it once. After that, stairs will appear at #10 that leads to the Upper Bowels at #1.
The chamber at #10 has two Luminescent Spores, as well as several Infected Caretakers and Luminescent Sporelings, that will attack you on sight.
*NOTE* If you previously reached a peaceful understanding with the Giant Luminescent Spore in the Quarantined Section, the Luminescent Spores and their minions here won't attack you. In fact, they'll open the door at #15 for you.
The Celestial Remnant is at #20. You can obtain the Fragment of Starmetal from it in one of four ways:
Allow the spirits in the Remnant to absorb spirit energy from you. They won't attack, but you will suffer both the Concussion (-20 Will) and Fatigue (-5 Accuracy, -10 all Defenses, -15% Maximum Health) Injuries as a result.
Sacrifice Giftwrapper to it. Doing so will lose reputation with Eder since he regards it as Animal Cruelty.
If you previously found and read On Celestial Spectres: Visitors From Further Than Beyond, you can make a Metaphysics check of 15 followed by a second Metaphysics check of 20 to convince the spirits to let you take the Fragment willingly.
You can break off the Fragment without doing any of the above. Doing so leads to a battle with several Celestial Spectres.
