Marceno is at #27 on the Ondra's Gift map. The chest he was entrusted to watch has been stolen out from under him, and he would like you to find it and recover it for him.
A gang of Thugs led by Waldr "Three Fingers" and "Lefty" Lisc will be at #10. A fight will happen no matter what you say, but it's a pretty easy fight.
The locked chest will be in plain view. Opening it requires that your main character (and only your main character) have 4 skill ranks in Mechanics. If you can open it, you'll obtain Captain Fortanero's Hat and Fortanero's Rapier.
If you return to Marceno without having opened the chest, there will be three possible outcomes:
You can accept his 300cp reward without anything further, and also get a moderate boost to positive reputation with Defiance Bay.
You can choose the Benevolent dialogue option that insists he keep the monetary reward. He'll insist on giving you the Drinking Horn of Moderation in lieu of the money. You likewise get a moderate boost to positive reputation with Defiance Bay.
You can insist on getting 'something more'. That results in getting both the 300cp and the Drinking Horn of Moderation, but you'll only get a minor boost to positive reputation with Defiance Bay.
There are three additional possibilites if you return to Marceno after having emptied the chest of its contents:
You can select the Deceptive option that gives him the chest without letting him know that it has been emptied. You can get the rewards described just above, plus you can keep the Hat and the Rapier from the chest.
You can select an Honest option that lets him know that you got the Hat and Rapier from the chest, but subsequently give them up to him. The rewards will be the same as described just above.
You can select the Honest option, but followed immediately thereafter by a Cruel option that tells Marceno that you'll be keeping the Hat and the Rapier. Marceno will not give any rewards as a result, and you'll acquire a minor reputation penalty with Defiance Bay.
