The Luminescent Adra Shard is on the altar at #5. Click on the large crystal at #6 with the Luminescent Adra Shard in your possession, and the shrines in a ring around the crystal will become active. That means you can now pray to the Gods.
The Shrine to Galawain is at #8. Pray with the words, "Survival begins with strength from within." Galawain will respond with a vision that ends with the words, "Blood must feed the Maw, Watcher. See that a new champion reigns."
Einden will be at #4, and will provide some background information. The reigning champion is a Lioness named Sul. In his view, Sul is being cowardly by staying in the safety of the back of the Maw where she has power and refuses to face her challenger head on, a Bear named Oernos.
Desthwyn at #8 will provide similar information. Unlike Einden, he doesn't care who becomes champion as long as the issue is settled one way or another soon.
The wall of vines at #16 offers an opportunity to get across to the other side through a scripted interaction. Forcing your way through won't work. Sneaking through will work, but probably not without losing Health and sustaining an injury or two for multiple party members.
*Note* Yet it may be preferable to do so. It is sometimes the case that Sul will wander about and get attacked by the other Lions and Lion Clansmen in the Maw, which can have the unfortunate result of breaking the quest and not being able to complete it if she gets killed. Going through the vine wall often gets you your encounter with Sul and avoids that possibility.
Sul and an Elven woman named Irendis will be at #17. When you speak to them, Irensi indicates the possibility that one of Sul's cubs will become a worth future champion.
If you are going to attack them, being a Druid, a Bleak Walker, a Ranger, or having the Hunter background, provides an opportunity to talk Irendis and her fellow Clanswomen into abandoning Sul and the other Lions.
After that, Einden will appear here along with the enormous Bear named Oernos and several other Bears. They of course urge you to take out Sul.
Another possibility if of course to kill Oernos. If you're a Fighter or a Darcozzi Paladini, or if you have the Hunter background, you can talk Einden and his Clansmen into departing, leaving Oernos and the Bears to fend for themselves. Oernos will leave behind an Elder Bear Claw while the other Bears will leave behind Bear Hides.
As for Destwyn, he doesn't care who the champion becomes as long as the situation is resolved somehow. There's three pathways:
Kill only Oernos in order to leave Sul as the incumbent champion.
Kill only Sul and leave Oernos alive to take over as the new champion
Kill both Sul and Oernos with the implication that one of Sul's cubs will eventually become the champion.
The first two choices each earn a moderate boost to reputation with Twin Elms. The third choice earns reputation bonuses with both Twin Elms and the Fangs.
However you do it, inform Desthwyn of the outome and he will reward you with a Sword called Cat's Claw.
Completing the quest involves going back to the shrine of Galawain at #8 on the map of Teir Evron and informing him of your success. Aggressive and Passionate replies are possible when you do so.
Galawain, along with Magran and Abydon, thereafter will request a boon of you. They will help you to reach Thaos for your final confrontation, but afterwards, will want you to feed the souls taken by Thaos to strengthen what remains of Dyrwood's people. You do not have to commit to this right away, and can in fact make it clear that you may want to hear what other gods will want and offer in return so as to keep your options. If you accede to Galawain's requests in preference to requests made by the other gods, that will in turn conclude the Council of Stars quest and you will receive the Galawain's Boon (+1 Might, +1 Athletics) talent.
