The entrance to the Temple of Berath will be at #9 in The Sacred Stair. High Priest Kasu will be inside. He would like you to retrieve several Eulogies for the dead from the nearby catacombs, and gives you The Eel's
Coil so that you can gain entry.
There's more than one way to find your way into the catacombs. You can
use a Rope and Grappling Hook
during a scripted interaction with the branch at #9 in The
Sacred Stair. You can also make a Perception check of 11 during
the scripted interaction to notice a side passage, and obtain a Ruby.
Taking the passageway during the scripted interaction will bring you to
The Hanging
Sepulchers at #15.
The Sepulchers themselves have a lot of undead, especially at points
marked #5 and #10. There's also plenty of traps. The east part can be
easier to navigate if you find hidden buttons or levers for the doors at
#2 and #7.
The sarcophagus at #11 has the Eulogy
to Yseyr - The Vigil. Aside from bringing it to Kasu, reading it
and getting the name "Faydwen" will help the Quest along too.
The stairs at #12 lead to the Forgotten Mausoleum, which is a small
alcove. A sarcophagus at the west end of the alcove is protected by
three traps that can be found and disarmed. The sarcophagus itself has the
Eulogy to Yseyr - The Gate.
Read it to obtain the name, "Borthwn".
A hidden niche on the west wall of the alcove will have robes called the
Effigy's Husk.
The door at #16 will have a skeleton to each side of it. The skeletons
act as seals on the door itself.
Click on the skeleton to the right after reading the name "Faydwen" from
the Eulogy to Yseyr - The
Vigil. You'll be able to select the "Lady of the Vigil" dialogue
option, which causes the skeleton to break its seal on the door.
Click on the skeleton to the left after reading the name "Borthwn" from
the Eulogy to Yseyr - The
Gate. You'll be able to select the "Lord of ..." dialogue option.
Having both skeletons break their seals on the door will now open the
door itself.
Now you can speak to
Yseyr himself at #17. His initial inclination is to attack, but either a
History check of 6 or a Diplomacy check of 6 will get your foot in the
door for a more peaceful resolution.
He'll be willing to answer questions about his conflict with Lucia
Rivan, and the sword that was at the heart of that conflict, which also
help complete the Symbols of
Death Quest.
You can also ask his permission to use the sword. He'll be hesitant.
Either a Perception check of 20, a dialogue option based on the Watcher
being a Death Godlike, or a Religion check of 8, followed by a promise
to return the sword to him when you're done with it, will convince him
to give you the Engoliero do
Espirs. It's an Estoc but will at the point be a Quest Item and
will remain so until you complete the Principi Quest called A
Dance With Death.
Alternatively, you can choose to attack him for the sword or pickpocket
it from him. *Note* One benefit of killing him is that you can get his
Flail, Skullcrusher.
He'll also grant permission to take the last Eulogy needed for the
Quest if you ask for it. The Eulogy
to Yseyr - The Sword will be in the sarcophagus at #18, whether
you first killed Yseyr or he gave you permission to take it.
